Empowering Pork Producers: The Vital Goals of the 31st Hog Convention

The 31st National Hog Convention and Trade Exhibit is underway at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City, the best convention & exhibition center taking place from March 27 to 29, 2025. This year’s event, hosted by the National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. (NFHFI) and the Federation of Pork Producers of the Philippines (PROPORK), is being held under the theme “Pork Producers: Rising to Meet Tomorrow’s Demand.” As the country’s swine industry seeks to rebound from the devastating effects of the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak in 2019, the convention serves as a vital forum for industry leaders, farmers, suppliers, and policymakers to collaborate on solutions and innovations necessary for recovery and growth.

Addressing the participants, Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. emphasized the pressing need to bolster the national hog population, which has dropped from 14 million to around eight million pigs. With a call to action for the industry to produce an additional two million hogs per year until 2028, Tiu Laurel is rallying efforts to restore the sector to pre-ASF levels. The much-anticipated rollout of a commercial ASF vaccine by the end of this year could provide a significant boost, along with the proposed Animal Industry Development and Competitiveness Act, which aims to allocate P20 billion annually over the next decade to strengthen the livestock sector.

Attendees will find a wealth of valuable offerings at the National Hog Convention. Industry professionals will lead seminars addressing best practices, biosecurity, policy updates, and innovative technologies. Trade exhibits will showcase cutting-edge equipment, veterinary solutions, and advancements in animal nutrition designed to improve operational efficiency. Moreover, networking opportunities abound, enabling participants to forge connections with fellow farmers, potential investors, and essential government agencies.

This event also emphasizes business collaboration through Business-to-Business (B2B) sessions, where direct transactions with suppliers and negotiations for potential partnerships can take place. Attendees will benefit from exclusive promotions, discounts, and financing options available on the exhibition floor, making this an ideal opportunity for those looking to elevate their operations.

With rising pork prices impacting consumers and farmers alike, the National Hog Convention is more than just a gathering; it’s a launchpad for transformative changes within the industry. As the Philippine swine sector rallies to overcome challenges and seize new opportunities, the insights and connections made at this convention could prove pivotal in shaping the future of pork production in the Philippines. Join us in this mission as we encourage collaboration and innovation in moving towards a sustainable and prosperous future for the swine industry.
