The Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) 2026 is currently underway, transforming the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City into a vibrant hub for book lovers and literary enthusiasts. Running from September 9 to 13, this five-day celebration bears the theme “Get Lit: Reading in a New Light,” emphasizing the evolving landscape of reading and the transformative power of books. Organized by Primetrade Asia, the event features an impressive lineup of over 165 exhibitors across two floors, showcasing a diverse array of titles from local and international publishers, including industry giants like Fully Booked, National Book Store, Penguin Random House SEA, and academic presses such as Ateneo de Manila University Press and University of the Philippines Press.

The fair is not only a marketplace for books but also a platform for cultural exchange and learning. On opening day, the Book Development Association of the Philippines (BDAP) will host the Gintong Aklat Awards, recognizing excellence in local book design, production, and literary quality. Additionally, the School World segment continues to foster educational innovation, offering educators, students, and academic leaders access to the latest learning materials and technologies. In celebration of National Teachers Month, the event offers free admission to teachers presenting valid IDs, complemented by special activities hosted by the Metrobank Foundation to honor educators’ contributions.

Wattpad is making a highly anticipated return to the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) this year, celebrating its 20th anniversary as a leading global storytelling platform. Wattpad remains a significant part of the Philippine literary scene, with many Filipino writers on the platform building massive fandoms—some with over 180 million reads—and having their stories adapted into television and film projects. Notable authors such as Knightinblack (“Hell University”), beeyotch (“Seducing Drake Palma”), and CeCeLib (“Possessive” series) will be present to meet fans, sign autographs, and share their creative journeys. The platform will also host the “Just One More Chapter” panel on September 11, where Filipino writers will discuss their inspirations and storytelling experiences. Visitors can explore Wattpad’s booth on the second floor, participate in the “Reader Passport” challenge, and collect exclusive merchandise to celebrate two decades of digital storytelling.

This year’s MIBF highlights a remarkable roster of speakers and personalities, including prominent figures like Ben&Ben’s Miguel and Paolo Guico, food historian Felice Prudente Sta. Maria, veteran journalists Howie Severino and Lourd de Veyra, media personality Noel Ferrer, and travel content creator Kach Medina Umandap. Their presence adds a dynamic, interactive dimension to the fair, with author signings, talks, and showcases. The event also features engaging exhibits from popular local and international publishers, especially those focusing on pop culture, contemporary fiction, comics, and heritage publications. Smaller publishers and indie creators such as Komiket Studios and 8Letters Bookstore are also participating, providing a platform for emerging Filipino writers and artists to share their stories.
